First Day of Kindergarten

First Day Of School

~Author Unknown~

He started school this morning,
And he seemed so very small.
As I walked there beside him
In the Kindergarten hall.

And as he took his place beside
the others in the class,
I realized how all too soon
Those first few years can pass.

Remembering, I saw him as
He first learned how to walk.
The words that we alone made out
When he began to talk.

This little boy so much absorbed
In learning how to write.
It seems as though he must have grown
To boyhood overnight.

My eyes were blurred by hastily
I brushed the tears away
Lest by some word or sign of mine
I mar his first big day.

Oh how I longed to stay with him
And keep him by the hand
To lead him through the places
That he couldn't understand.

And something closely kin to fear
Was mingled with my pride.
I knew he would no longer be
A baby by my side.

But he must have his chance to live,
To work his problems out,
The privilege to grow and learn
What life is all about.

And I must share my little boy
With friends and work and play;
He's not a baby anymore --
He's in Kindergarten today.

Kinder Kick-Off Party

One way to get a child excited about starting kinder is to celebrate it! Last Friday we went to a Kindergarten Kick-Off party at the park with some of Tucker's church/preschool friends. The kids so much enjoyed running around at the spray park and bucket fishing in the "swamp." We are so thankful for friends to share these important milestones with!

Boys being boys!

Bucket fishing!

Boy bonding time. ;)

FBC Kindergarten Luncheon- Class of 2024

Tucker starts kindergarten next week....can it be? I've been struggling with this for the past week or so. I don't think any parent is ever really ready to send their first baby off to BIG school. I'm panicky. I know he'll be in good hands, but I worry about him being in someone else 's care 7 hours a day, 5 days per week, which equals 35 hours a week total! Honestly, I'm sad about it. The progression of things has hit harder than ever before. My little man is growing up.

Learning how to make choices in the lunch line.

The oh so scary task of carrying your lunch tray!
