I finally created a family blog...it's only been my intention since before Tucker was born. Better late than never! My hopes are to update it at least once a week, so please check back often if you are interested in keeping up with us!
It's amazing how much more Tucker is talking and comprehending since turning 2 years old. Richard and I are often in awe over something he says!
The electricity went out the other day for a short time and I was getting ready to shower in the dark. Tucker insisted that I turn the light on. I told him that the lights weren't working. One of the weird things about our house is that the light switches are low enough for him to reach. Tucker flipped the light switch expecting it to turn on like usual. He then said, "The lights are broken. Mommy, go get a battery."
Tucker can be quite demanding and bossy. Not that it's a great trait, but we often can't help but laugh at something he says. Last week our 3 year old neighbor was over playing with Tucker. They were sitting at the kiddie table eating granola bars when I heard Alexandra screaming, "Noooo!" Then Tucker demanded, "No yelling! You be nice." His mouth was full and he was holding a half eaten granola bar. Apparently Tucker had eaten his granola bar AND Alexandra's. It's great that he understands the concept of being nice, but there seems to be a double standard since he didn't see anything wrong in eating her granola bar! Some of Tucker's most used demanding phrases: "Don't push me/hold me like that!" "Go away!" "Get me down!" "I need water/milk/juice!"
When Tucker wants out of his high chair he will often request to be "rescued."
Tucker loves going to the swimming pool and asks to go everyday. He is a little daredevil and actually jumped into the pool the other day without one of us right there to catch him (and without his swim vest on). Luckily, uncle Jeff was somewhat near and was able to swim over and swoop him up. Tucker was startled, but was fine after a few seconds and carried on like nothing had happened. When Richard returned home from work that evening he asked Tucker about the incident at the swimming pool. Tucker explained, "I jumped to the bottom of pool. I'm okay. Uncle Jeff got me."
Macy is a much better sleeper than Tucker was as an infant, which we are thrilled about! She sleeps for 5-6 hours at night before waking up for a feeding, then sleeps another 2-3 hours. She loves being swaddled and doesn't struggle to unwrap herself like her brother used to. While we do hope to get Tucker sleeping in his big boy room soon (he's regressed since bringing home baby), our cosleeping arrangement actually works quite well for us. Macy sleeps just fine in the bassinet beside our bed so hopefully we won't have any trouble when we're ready to transition her to her crib. Tucker just loves to be cuddled, and we love to cuddle him, so we really have a mountain to climb in getting him into his own room! Fortunately, Tucker sleeps right through any crying/fussing from Macy. I'm really beginning to realize how quickly little ones grow...before long Tucker won't welcome all the snuggling and cuddling, so I'm taking advantage of every bit I can get now. :)
