Today marks 4 months since our snugglebug was born. Four months since I washed 1/2 as much laundry and changed 1/2 as many diapers. Four months since we officially became a family of four. Four months since my heart expanded so much it could explode.

I will soon say good-bye to all of the kid's summer clothes (only in Texas are you putting away summer clothes in October!). This means no more bare feet in the backyard or little dresses that expose chunky baby thighs until next year. It's hard to believe that it's been one full season since Macy's birth. I should remember how quickly the time passes since I experienced (and still am) this very same thing with Tucker, but I don't think I could ever prepare myself enough for it. Watching your baby grow before your eyes is bittersweet. As much as I love the newborn baby stage, I realize now through Tucker that it just keeps getting better. Watching him learn and make sense of the world around him is amazing, something I appreciate daily. Given my teaching background, I've long been interested in the developmental stages of children, and in witnessing them learn and grow, but it's a different kind of fulfilment when it's your own child.

More proof that everything (well, almost everything) your child says is the cutest thing ever:

As we were driving by a church with a tall steeple, Tucker pointed and exclaimed, "Look, there's the Eiffel Tower!"
Yes. Straight from the mouth of a 2 year old.

Tucker was 15 months old when we went to Disney World last summer. Since he's really into Disney characters these days, it occurred to me that we should show him some pictures from our adventures there. There's a picture of Richard holding Tucker while standing next to life-sized Buzz Lightyear and Mr. Potato Head. Tucker innocently questioned, "Daddy??? YOU know Buzz and Mr. Potato Head!???"

Yesterday as Tucker and cousin Clay looked at toys through a closed store window:
"Clay, you buy me that (toy) with your money, and I'll buy you that (toy) with my Mama's money."

Of course this post wouldn't be complete without photos of my sweet loves!

Macy looks just like you in these pictures, Misty! They are both adorable and, yes, they do grow up too quickly! I can remember packing up Savannah's clothes when she was about 9 months old and literally feeling sick - it broke my heart. Of course, now I'm glad to see her old clothes GO out the door - they are so worn and tattered by the time she is finished with them!! Enjoy those sweet babies!
