After his first day of preschool:
M: Tucker, your teachers said you did really well! They were so happy that you didn't cry one bit.
T: Well...this one girl cried.
M: Oh, no. Why was she upset?
T: 'Cause I took the alligator from her. She just dumped all the animals on the floor and I wanted that one.
After his second day of preschool:
M: Wow, you received a lot of Christmas treats from your friends at school! This one is from Travis.
T: Oh. I don't like Travis. He is a not a nice boy. He pushed me over.
M: Why did Travis push you?
T: I don't why. He's just not nice, I told you.
M: What did you do when he pushed you? I hope you didn't push him back.
T: Nope. I just told him he needed to say sorry.
Tucker has been feeling a little under the weather since Friday. He has a nasty cough and he says his throat hurts. After waking up from a nap, his voice was quite hoarse. As he began speaking to me, he realized that is voice sounded like a croaking frog. He commented, "Mama, I sound like E.T."
(Ha ha. He and Richard watched the movie E.T. a few days ago!)
After fighting a long bedtime battle, exasperated, Richard told Tucker that he was frustrating him. "What does that mean?" Tucker questioned. Richard said it means that he is unhappy with him. "Dada, I'm sorry I'm frustrating you," replied Tucker, as he snuggled up close to his daddy. Of course Richard's heart melted, and he instantly felt horrible for speaking those words (but so relieved that Tucker calmed down and fell fast asleep)!
Last night while at cousin Clay's theater performance of Annie, Tucker noticed something wasn't quite right during the scene when Annie is trying to convince the dog catcher that the stray dog, Sandy, belongs to her. Apparently, Annie referred to Sandy as a boy, and Tucker had his own opinion about that! He turned to me and said, "Sandy dog is a GIRL dog, not a boy!" :)
I could hardly believe it, but Tucker sat *mostly* still through the 2-hour performances we took him to. He was quite interested in what was going on, and was so excited to see Clay (and Christie!) perform on the big stage. He even got to meet some of the other stars of the show during the cast dinner last night. Clay and Christie carried him around, so he was able see the stars up close and personal. I know he felt soooo special!
