Christmas means many things to us, but spending time with our families is what we look forward to the most. We realized this year that having small families means spending more quality time together instead of rushing around town from place to place to see everyone. We are fortunate enough to have my parents in the neighborhood, and Richard's family comes to us on Christmas, so we are able to relax and fully enjoy the day of Jesus' birth.
On Christmas Eve, my parents and grandma came over to our house for dinner and the kids opened a few gifts. Then we all went to Christmas Eve service. Tucker and Macy were both tired (8pm service), but they did exceptionally well. The Children's Sermon was about how the red and white of a candy cane represents Jesus. The white being purity and the red as the blood He shed for our sins. Macy was the first one who shouted out the colors of the candy cane when Pastor asked. It was so cute. Our sugarbaby was so excited that she was given a candy cane, she ran back to the pew shouting, "I got candy! I got candy!" We returned home and got the kids dressed in their Christmas pj's and set out cookies & milk for Santa. This year we also left Santa a plate of Macy's pacifiers to give to the baby reindeer. Unfortunately, Macy stood her ground and would NOT give one paci up. She convinced us that she NEEDED it to sleep. Not a complete fail though. Santa did take the pacis she left for him, and gave her a special surprise in exchange for them- a Monchhichi monkey, Skittles and M&M's (she had specifically asked Santa for that candy)! So in the end, we only have one paci to work on getting rid of!
Macy woke up first on Christmas morning, as usual. The first words she spoke were, "Santa didn't come to my house." She thought because she woke up with her paci in her mouth, that he didn't come. I guess she thought that he was going to come take the paci out of her mouth while she was sleeping! She and I walked out into the living room to see if Santa had indeed come. She spotted the surprises that Santa left for her and realized that her pacis were gone! She was thrilled! She was upset, however, that he didn't eat all of the cookies. There was half of a cookie left, and she didn't like that one bit. Macy then ran to the bedroom to wake up her Bubby and Daddy, and off the two kiddos ran to see what Santa had given them.
Christmas morning is one of those moments that reminds me how fortunate I am to be a mommy. Watching the wonder and excitement in their eyes fills my heart with joy. The one thing Tucker had asked Santa for was a Kung Zhu Battle Arena (when he says battle arena it sounds like "ballerina"- heehee, it took us a while to understand what exactly he was wanting)! Needless to say, Santa came through and left an entire Kung Zhu battle galaxy for our Tuckerman. We have battle hamsters and accessories out the gazoo! Tucker received some other cool toys, but the Kung Zhu stuff was the main hit. Macy Moo had asked Santa for Skittles, M&M's, and a pink Zhu Zhu pet (wonder where she had heard of Zhu Zhu's before...hmmm). She received those things, along with a vanity with hair accessories, and lots of Disney Princess stuff. The cutest thing was the Belle tea cart she was given. We all enjoyed watching her pushing her tea cart around, serving us tea (or coffee or Coke), all while wearing her princess high heels. I must say, I just LOVE having a little girly girl!
Richard's mom and sister spent the morning with us, and then we spent the evening at my parent's house with my family. What a wonderful Christmas it was. Thank you to our families who continue to bless us with their love and so much more! We are so very thankful and love you all!
