Tucker's first day of preschool was a success! He insisted on wearing his backpack and carrying his lunch bag himself, and he immediately walked right into his classroom and began playing. I talked to his teachers for a few minutes, gave him a hug goodbye, and off Macy and I went. He had no issues at all with me leaving. Tucker loves being around other children, and he is quite social, so I really wasn't worried about it. What I was a little concerned about was how he would do at nap time. To my surprise, his teachers said he fell fast asleep and was the last child to wake up. What?! And he gives me so much trouble at home. Hmmmpf.
Richard and I coached him on how to introduce himself to his new classmates. Since he is the new kid coming in mid-year, we thought it was worth a shot. He was to say, "Hi, my name is Tucker. What is your name?" And then end with, "It's nice to meet you." So I asked him on the car ride home if he introduced himself to his new friends, and if he could tell me any of their names. He replied, "I tried to, but they don't really talk. They just wanted to play with me." Ha! He is the oldest 2 year old in the class, so perhaps many of them aren't talking much yet. His teachers commented on how much he talks, and that he is the most verbal child in the class. Hopefully the other kids won't learn anything bad from him! ;)
He made a green and red hand print Christmas ornament with white glitter. He is so proud of his creation, and I'd imagine that he had a grand time making it, since there was glitter all throughout his scalp and curls!

We celebrated a great first day of school over white chocolate raspberry cheesecake ice cream from Braum's. Mama's favorite! I am absolutely thrilled about him starting day school. It not only gives me (and Momo!) a much needed break, but the socialization and structured environment is much needed for our little man.

HOORAY for an awesome day!! Sounds like it couldn't have gone any better!!! When is his 3rd birthday Misty?
Yeah for Tucker on his first day of SCHOOL! He looks like a little doll with his lunch box and backpack! You need to take a picture of him with his first school art project and post it for us - I can just imagine how excited and proud of himself he was! I bet he will always enjoy himself in school - maybe even TOO much, with his social skills!!
Tooooo cool for school! That pic is adorable!!
He's gotta be the cutest dressed in class, too! Love that little cardigan! :)
Ok, Misty- weren't you JUST bringing him home from the hospital like, yesterday?! And now he's a little man in school!? Whaa?!
How adorable is he?!?! And of course, so independent insisting on carrying his own lunchbox and backpack! Too sweet!
I love his response when you asked him about the other kiddos at school too! He's so cute!
So cute! At our house, we call if Happy School because it makes everyone so happy :). Gage insists on carrying his bag on his back as well, some days it's heavier than he is!
