Two weeks ago, as I was answering the developmental questionnaire as requested by the pediatrician's office, I began to question if her communication skills were lacking. Her cognitive abilities were right on target, but she scored the lowest in the communication section. Well, fear no more, because she seems to have had a language explosion during the past two weeks. She has added many more words to her vocabulary, some of which are short phrases:
mama
dada
bubba
dog
ball
up
uh-oh
thank you
stop it
please
more
nite nite
papaw
book
more
no no
out
hello
bye bye
shoes
eat
Dr. Sue strongly encourages that we start breaking Macy of her pacifier. She mentioned it at the one year visit, and today she saw firsthand how crazy about her paci our little girl is. I actually tried to hide it from the doctor (hee hee), as it was clipped to the inside of the diaper bag. Well, wouldn't ya know, Macy found it and kept walking over there and putting in her mouth, but became frustrated because she could not detach it from the bag. She would start stomp her feet and whine, all while looking at me like WTH? :) We will see. We actually did attempt to limit the paci use to only sleep times, but that didn't go over so well. She doesn't so much want it at home while playing, but it's a must for in the car and when we are out running errands or eating out. That paci is often the thing that prevents a crying fit out in public, which I try to avoid at all costs!
